After finding your wedding venue, photography is usually next on the list. In some cases, you may have received a strong referral from a friend. Or, maybe you’re starting this process from scratch. Whether it is a referral or you’re literally googling wedding photographers in your area, one thing is vitally important: asking the right questions to ensure that your wedding is captured just the way you envisioned. If you’re wondering exactly what to ask a wedding photographer, I’m here to help.

In some areas, there are wedding photographers within a two mile radius of each other. In other areas, there might just be one in fifty miles. Therefore, it is important to take your time with the searching and vetting process. It’s everyone’s dream to find that unicorn photographer that checks all the boxes in regards to how you want your day photographed AND has an awesome personality to match. When you find that unicorn, you will completely trust in your investment because you know you will get a quality experience and would be willing to fly that photographer around the world to capture your day!

So how do you get there? How do you find the unicorn? How do you get to the point where, if your photographer tells you to twirl in your twenty pound dress, you do it without hesitation? Seeing all the amazing images on their social media outlets is a great way to start establishing trust, but it isn’t going to answer if they are the right fit for you! So, I’ve created a wedding photographer interview questionnaire just for you!

If you are interviewing a reputable photographer that is well versed in the trade and professionally insured, they will have no issue answering your questions. If the answers to any of these questions has you feeling like you are settling, then it is time to continue the search. And that’s okay! Just like you don’t want to settle on one of the most important parts of your wedding day, we photographers don’t want to feel like the second or even third choice. We want to feel like we are the ONLY choice!
