Both physical therapists, RJ and Katie’s paths crossed shortly after Katie relocated to Las Vegas for her job. After some time as colleagues, they began talking more and more. Eventually, RJ spent some time with Katie and her friends and he knew there was something special there. Technically, Katie asked RJ out, and she enjoyed having a familiar face on her hikes. Things really got serious when she saw how kind and loving he was to Mayzie and how he was so caring with her. When it came time to propose, I loved how RJ kept the experience traditional and asked permission from her dad before he proposed.
These two wanted to have their engagement session at Valley of Fire just about an hour outside of Las Vegas. They have spent hours hiking the trails together with Mayzie underfoot. It only takes five minutes past the entrance gates to understand why it is called Valley of Fire. The state park derives its name from red sandstone formations, the Aztec Sandstone, which formed from shifting sand dunes 150 million years ago. There is something about the landscape that can literally cause even the busiest of people to take a step back and appreciate such an amazing creation. I absolutely loved the quiet moments with RJ and Katie overlooking the beautiful red rocks. I also loved how Mayzie made sure her humans got the best pictures to celebrate their engagement and upcoming wedding!
Check out a few of my favorites from RJ and Katie’s Valley of Fire engagement session!
I can’t wait to be a part of their beautiful wedding! Katie and RJ are planning a small, classic wedding at The Highlands. The first time they tried to visit the venue, they had to evacuate because of the forest fires. Once they finally were able to visit, they fell in love with it immediately. I’m sure it’s going to be perfect and I’m honored to be a part of it!
