It was a beautiful fall day when Jessykah and Brandon committed themselves to each other. I remember when I first met them in a downtown Oakland coffee shop and Jessykah greeted me with a wide smile and a hug, and shortly into our conversation informed me that “she was a little different”. I initially thought she was referring to her tiny baby bump only noticeable if you stared long enough, letting me know she was going to be a pregnant bride, but no. I eventually learned she was a little different because she has one of the biggest hearts, Brandon too. They were one of the most humble and grateful couples I had ever met. Grateful for life, the two little ones they already had and the new little one growing peacefully in mommies belly. They had me cracking up the whole time we met during their consultation and that never changed from their engagement shoot to their wedding day. They were different for sure, fun loving, animated and their love for each other just blossomed right in front of my camera lens.
There wedding day was full of friends and family who loved them. Lot’s of tears, and hugs and love shared throughout the day. Between the amazing soul food dinner and lots of fun dancing, Jessykah remained a mommy as she played on the ground with her boys in her gorgeous white dress, and Brandon remained a daddy as he danced with his boys during the reception. One of the most memorable images for me was when Jessykah chocked back tears as she walked down the aisle to her groom, there was not a dry eye in the house. Seeing the couple transition into party mode during the reception was awesome, as Jessykah got into a red party dress showing off her growing baby bump, and Brandon loosened up his tie and removed his jacket to get down on the dance floor with his bride. I hope you enjoy these beautiful images of their lovely day at the Lake Merritt Sailboat House.
