Trip Down Memory Lane

June 17, 2015

I remember the fist time I picked up a DSLR camera. I actually borrowed it from my son’s step-mother. As soon as I put my eye to the view finder I knew this was a whole new world I knew nothing about. I couldn’t believe one of the first series pics I took was of my son getting a tackle.

I knew then I was hooked!! I begged, pleaded snotted and cried until I finally convinced my husband who is the most supportive beautiful man that God could have blessed me with, and I remember FINALLY in November 2013 just as the season was ending he agreed to get me my first DSLR camera. At the time I knew nothing about APS-C (cropped sensor) vs. full framed sensor. I bought the Canon T5I and I was so excited to finally be able to capture my own amazing shots. The first night I got the camera, this was the very first picture I ever took with it…

Yah thats Charlotte….and as soon as I saw that I was snapping everything in the house, even my sleeping hubby, which I won’t dare post, lol.

I went on to capture as many sports shots as I could and I was blessed enough to have a  dad of another player Mike who came and set my camera to shutter priority and said only shoot in RAW…whatawhata, I have no clue what the heck he was talking about but he had the hugest lens I had ever seen and I thought I better listen to that guy. Plus he was the nicest most helpful person I had met on the football field, so I was more then inclined to listen.

Then someone asked me to take pictures of their family because they saw my sports pics on Facebook, I was terrified, what!! I was so excited, flattered, but I literally knew NOTHING about taking pictures of posed people not running across a football field. Literally nothing. So I of course agreed, something new I thought and thankfully it was family so I thought they would be a bit more forgiving if I messed up, but I started snapping away and I knew right then and there I wanted to do more then shoot my son’s football games, I knew then I wanted to photograph people, capture moments that people can’t capture on their cell phones.

Since my first year I have since incorporated so many things into my shoots but it is always fun to remember and reminisce  on where I started and the friends and family who trusted me before I knew what was up from down.
